Big Belly Means More Nighttime Bathroom Trips
If you’re a man whose sleep is frequently disrupted by the urge to urinate, it may be time to lose weight. Researchers have found that men with larger waists tend to urinate more often, many averaging two trips to the bathroom a night.
The study found that men whose waists measured more than 39 inches had three times the number of urinary problems as men with waists of 35 inches or less.
“Our study shows that men with larger waist circumferences urinate more over a 24-hour period, and at night, than men with smaller waists and confirms higher levels of problems traditionally associated with metabolic syndrome,” said co-author Dr. Stephen A. Kaplan. “Waist measurement may therefore represent an easy diagnostic tool when it comes to the likelihood of male urinary problems.”
