Americans Are Clueless About Gaining Weight

Americans seem to think they’re losing weight, even though more and more of us are getting so heavy we qualify as being obese. Researchers at the University of Washingtom have found that when people are asked about how much they weigh, they underestimate their weight and think that they have recently lost pounds even though this is false.
In this research, men did a worse job estimating their own weight changes than women. And older adults were less attuned to their extra pounds than young adults. Analysis of weight gain in the U.S. shows that more than one in four Americans is now obese. On average, we’re gaining about a pound every year.
