With fresh fruits and vegetables, supermarkets must tell you the country of origin, but with dried fruit and mixed produce, the law isn't so strict. That means a mixed bag of salads isn't required to disclose its location, and that can create problems if there's a bacterial outbreak. News reports might warn you about E.
