Alcohol May Increase Risk of Colon Cancer

Colon cancer can run in families. When one of your close relatives has had this type of cancer, your risk increases.
If that’s the case, imbibing alcoholic beverages will seriously increase your risk even more, even if you have only a few drinks a day.
Researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School have found that people with a family history of colorectal cancer who drank an average of 30 or more grams of alcohol per day (about 2.5 drinks) were at increased risk for colon cancer.
According to this study, if you also smoke and eat processed meats like hot dogs, while neglecting leafy green vegetables, your risk climbs even higher.
