An analysis of data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) shows that one particular food, high in fat and calories, may actually help you lose weight, improve your diet, reduce your sugar intake and help your cholesterol.
The claim is for the mighty avocado.
Research on Americans and their relationship to avocados shows that avocado eaters:
  • Consume 36 percent more dietary fiber, 23 percent more vitamin E, 13 percent more magnesium, 16 percent more potassium and 48 percent more vitamin K.
  • Have smaller waistlines.
  • Weigh less.
  • Have higher HDL (good cholesterol).
  • Have a 50 percent lower risk of metabolic syndrome.
