What’s the payback for consistently exercising? One big reward may be a longer life.
Researchers at the National Cancer Institute havefound that if you do about 75 minutes of vigorous exercise weekly or 150 minutes of more moderate weekly exercise, you increase your life expectancy by almost 3.5 years.
Analyzing research on more than 650,000 people the scientists found that, even if they didn’t lose weight, folks who engaged in physical activity tended to live longer. In this research, if you exercised for five hours a week, you stretched your life expectancy by 4.5 years compared to couch potatoes.
