Managing Diabetes And Aiming For A Cure — Part II

I’ve previously discussed what happens to be initially assessed in preparation for a diabetes cure. In this article I’ll focus on the interventions that can actually reverse the metabolic dysfunction of type 2 diabetes. Healing and diabetes cures are real. I’ve seen my own patients accomplish this; and you or a loved one can do it, too.
Altering Your Thoughts And Mood
If you are open to new learning, you’ll become excited to be healed of diabetes. I invite you to see the vision; for believing is seeing.
You know how important your thoughts and mood are to your success. To best use them, consider some the of many ways you can reduce stress with these mind- and mood-enhancing tools:
  • Walking alone or with a friend.
  • Deep slow breathing (10 minutes).
  • Frequent massage therapy.
  • Great sex with your spouse.
  • Meditation.
  • Journaling to soft music.
  • Listening to your favorite music.
  • Listening to inspiring audio books.
  • Yoga.
All of these activities help you bring out feelings of love and peace within you. This sets a foundation that permits you to better love yourself enough to want to heal yourself.
Choosing An Exercise
What if you simply don’t like to exercise? Surely, you can find something you like and that fits your schedule. You can pick among walking/jogging, floor exercises (situps, pushups, leg lifts, core strengthening, etc.), biking, aerobics, yoga, weight training, cross-training and almost every sport you can think of. What is the most important rule here? Do what you enjoy and also what you may sustain over time.
Supplementary Nutrients
Eat significant amounts of raw whole food and consume a green drink daily to get your minerals and basic vitamins. Then look to these other nutrient supplements that can help improve metabolism and lower blood sugar:
  • Banaba leaf extract: insulin-like plant with corosolic acid that transports glucose from your bloodstream to your cells.
  • Cinnamon bark extract: increases glucose metabolism.
  • Fenugreek: decreases absorption of glucose in the small intestine.
  • Bitter melon: has an insulin-like polypeptide to help regulate blood sugar levels.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids: derived from fish or krill.
  • Chromium: found in brewer’s yeast.
  • Garcinia Cambogia: helps reduce appetite and inhibit fat production without mental hyperactivity.
  • Gymnema sylvestre(leaf): a great way to stop the taste of sugary foods when taken as a tincture.
  • Blend of digestive enzymes: taken with each meal, especially for more raw foods.
  • Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA): activates insulin receptor sensitivity.
Foods That Cure Type 2 Diabetes
I’ll mention some important information about foods high in fructose, including high fructose corn syrup (in my next article-”The Switch”).
The bottom line to the food aspect of curing type 2 diabetes is to implement a 100 percent, lifelong, raw whole food diet. This reverses underlying inflammation and metabolic dysfunction. The trick is learning how to prepare it so it is appetizing, tasty and fulfilling, and it actually becomes a lifestyle. This is not at all about just going off your usual diet to starve on raw carrots and tasteless vegetables. Not at all! You may find it difficult to imagine, but raw foods when prepared properly can taste good and be very filling. I point out in my book The Man Manual (available Nov. 27) that eating this way means you’ll feel much better and need less food to be satisfied.
Tree Of Life Rejuvenation Center
Gabriel Cousens, M.D., currently has the most successful program for reversing type 2 diabetes that I am aware of. If you have not watched it before, go and watch the trailer from the documentary movie “Simply Raw — Reversing Diabetes in 30 days” here.
Cousens’ Arizona clinic involves a three-week onsite intensive program as its beginning, but it continues for a year with twice-monthly telephone follow-ups with a Tree of Life nurse and a year of monthly Internet webcast group meetings with Cousens. This program uses nutritional and lifestyle changes in addition to exercise, meditation and fostering one’s spiritual evolution.
According to Cousens’ website, out of 110 participants in his program:
  • Thirty-one percent of type 1 diabetics were off insulin after three weeks with about 10 percent having blood sugars consistently under 100 mg/dl.
  • Twenty-eight percent of insulin-requiring type 2 diabetics reversed their diabetes after three weeks with no insulin and a fasting blood sugar (FBS) of less than 100 mg/dl.
  • Sixty percent of the type 2 diabetics were off all oral hypoglycemic medications after three weeks with FBS less than 100 mg/dl.
  • One hundred percent of prediabetics were “healed.”
The real key to his success with reversing diabetes is the use of skilled raw food cuisine chefs in his cafĂ©. That’s what makes the transition to living raw food an enjoyable one. The interesting thing is that this approach also reverses other chronic inflammatory illnesses and autoimmune disorders.
It can certainly be done without Cousens if you simply focus on raw food cuisine as the center of your own personal program. I highly encourage you to take 12 minutes and watch an exciting short video to look more closely at what raw foods look like and how patients made the transition easily at Cousen’s clinic in Patagonia, Ariz.
