Fast food doesn’t threaten just your waistline. A study of more than 400,000 youngsters in more than 50 countries shows that teenagers who consume the most fast food increase their risk of severe asthma by almost 40 percent.
In contrast, kids who eat the most fruit lower their asthma risk. Those who chomp more than three fruit servings a week drop their chances of severe asthma by about 14 percent.
The researchers from New Zealand and Great Britain note: “Our results suggest that fast food consumption may be contributing to the increasing prevalence of asthma, rhinoconjunctivitis (runny nose)  and eczema in adolescents and children.”
