Golf Is A Safe Sport, But Step Away From The Cart

Golf cart injuries are surging. Since 1990, the annual injury rate has increased more than 130 percent. The most dangerous place to sit on a cart: a rear-facing backseat.
Possibly responsible for the injury increase: Carts have become faster and have more horsepower. Their use has also expanded beyond the golf course to retirement communities, airports, parks, college campuses and airports. These vehicles don’t have seatbelts, and they are unstable. Half of the reported injuries resulted from falls or jumps from carts or the carts turning over.
Many golf carts only have rear-end brakes, which cause carts to fishtail during sudden stops.
