Meditation Prevents And Treats Heart Disease

Meditation is well-known as an effective way to control stress. A review of meditation studies also shows Transcendental Meditation can reduce blood pressure, improve heart structure, reduce stress hormones, clear arteries, and ease anxiety and depression. These benefits occur in both adults and children.
“These findings have important implications for inclusion of the Transcendental Meditation program in medical efforts to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease,” says lead author Dr. Vernon Barnes of Georgia Health Sciences University.
Barnes says it is important to start preventing heart disease with adolescents before the disease becomes serious: “Adding Transcendental Meditation at a young age could prevent future cardiovascular disease and save many lives, not to mention reduce the national medical bill by billions of dollars.”
