Additives Worse Than High Fructose Corn Syrup
Given all the media coverage, you may have come to see high fructose corn syrup as the master supervillian in the pantheon of nutritional evil-doers--Charles Manson, Jack the Ripper and Dr. Octopus all rolled into one sugary, liquid poison. But the bark around HFCS may be more dramatic than its bite. While eating more HFCS is nobody’s idea of a smart move, a 2014 review of five studies found that the artificial sweetener is actually no worse (and by that we also mean, no better) than standard white sugar. What you should be more concerned about, on the other hand, is this collection of five additives worse than HFCS.
