Jolly green java
There was a time when coffee wasn't considered much more than an unhealthy vice. It was a crutch for to wake you up in the morning. And of course, a notorious companion to cigarettes.

But now, times are different. New research continues to blow coffee's bad reputation out of the water. And to distinguish it as a real disease-fighting dynamo, instead.

That's especially true of coffee in its freshest, most unadulterated form--the green coffee bean--which is rich in a class of compounds called chlorogenic acids.

Scientists presented the latest evidence behind the benefits of green coffee beans to the American Chemical Society just this month. And believe me, it's news thateveryone looking for a natural cure for high blood sugar should hear.

As part of this recent study, researchers examined the effects of varying doses of green coffee extract on the blood sugar levels of 56 healthy men and women. Each subject took doses between 100 and 400 milligrams of the extract, and then received a glucose tolerance test.

Results showed significant blood sugar benefits at all doses--but especially with the highest dose.

In fact, subjects who took 400 mg of green coffee extract experienced blood sugar spikes that were 24 percent lower at 30 minutes post-challenge--and 31 percent lower at 120 minutes.

The bottom line? When it comes to coffee, black is good... but green is even better.

Until next time,

Dr. Fred
