Beware Facebook Addiction

It’s no news that use of Facebook has spread rapidly around the world. Now scientists at the University of Bergen in Norway are warning that Facebook addiction is making the anxious and insecure among us harmfully hooked on the social media site.
Signs that your Facebook addiction may be spiraling out of control:
  • You spend hours thinking about Facebook or planning your next Facebook adventure.
  • You increasingly feel strong urges to get on Facebook more and more.
  • You use Facebook to repress personal problems.
  • You tried to cut down on Facebook use but you can’t help yourself.
  • You become restless or troubled if you are Facebookless.
  • You use Facebook so much that your job and schoolwork suffer.
According to Facebook researcher Cecilie Schou Andreassen, women are more vulnerable to Facebook addiction. Andreassen’s study claims to show that the symptoms of Facebook addiction resemble those of drug addiction, alcohol addiction, and chemical substance addiction.
