Call Any Vegetable, Call It By Name

Savvy marketers know that giving foods cutesy names makes for better sales. And now the nutrition-minded folks are getting the message. Research at Cornell shows that vegetables given catchy names in school cafeterias get eaten more than their anonymous brethren. The researchers studied children between the ages of 8 and 11 and discovered that catchy monikers move the produce.
In the study, when carrots were dubbed” X-ray Vision Carrots,” kids doubled their consumption. When broccoli was reborn as “Power Punch Broccoli” or “Tiny Tasty Tree Tops”, kids started eating it like candy.
